The restructuring of Rowan University’s colleges brought many exciting changes this summer. On July 1 we not only gained a new name, the College of Science and Mathematics, we also welcomed a new department—Nursing. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Rowan is a flexible program that enables registered nurses to acquire the highly regarded BSN with little interruption to professional or personal obligations.
As you may be aware, legislation was signed by Governor Christie in August making way for Rowan to become a comprehensive research university. Attaining research-university status will enable us to develop more professional degree programs to address regional and national needs, while also strengthening the undergraduate programs we currently offer. These changes will also pave the way for opportunities to develop new, multidisciplinary programs. We are very excited about these new possibilities and what these changes mean for our College.
The College is also expanding its graduate education. Our degree programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioinformatics and Doctor of Psychology have recently been approved by the Board of Trustees. The masters degree programs are the first graduate programs in natural sciences and our doctoral program is the first of its type outside the College of Education.
As a part of our past, we will be honored to have you take part of our College’s future. Visit our website at www.rowan.edu/colleges/csm and follow us on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/RowanCSM. We would love to share your stories and successes with our students.
All my best,
Parviz Ansari, Ph.D.
